Faelerie

ARTIST BIO

Faelerie was born in Wonosobo, Indonesia, in 1994 and graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts, majoring in Visual Communication at the Indonesian Institute of the Arts, Yogyakarta.

For Faelerie, knitting is the process of forming concrete lines through yarn, then shaping surfaces, shapes, and volumes. Knitting is a monotonous and time-consuming activity, leading her to reflect on other things and reminisce about the past. Her works tell the story of how she relives past memories. These memories and experiences then shape her characters. Faelerie's renowned works detail the female body and its scarred journey, along with experiences of trauma and healing. Through depictions of human tissue woven with bloodstains, women's hands and breasts scarred by holes and tears, she presents an unfiltered depiction of her bodily landscape, where the healing process is a form of survival; and the poetry of life is simply the hope of triumphing over challenges.

Faelerie's superior artistic skills won her the Young Artist Award at ARTJOG 2025. Furthermore, Faelerie frequently exhibits at Redbase Foundation Indonesia and Redbase Sydney. Most recently, in July 2025, Faelerie participated in a group exhibition entitled Seamline: Narrative Identity at Redbase Sydney.
