ARTIST BIO

Amin Taasha was born in 1995 in Bamiyan, Afghanistan. He studied calligraphy at the Kabul Institute of Fine Arts before earning his Bachelor's degree in Fine Art from the Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Yogyakarta.
Taasha’s practice is a convergence of diverse cultural influences, notably from Central Asia, Greece, and Buddhism, resulting in his distinctive Greco-Buddhist style. Rooted in his rich heritage, he seamlessly blends together elements such as ancient Persian script, Buddhist symbols, and Afghan miniature motifs in his creations. Drawing from techniques of Chinese calligraphy and Zen abstraction, Taasha achieves a harmonious synthesis of tradition and innovation in his works.

Taasha's recent works have been featured in  “Aoetora Art Fair” at Auckland, New Zealand (2024) ,  “Tales of East and West” Group Exhibition at Redbase Foundation Indonesia, Yogyakarta (2024) , “Sydney Contemporary” Art Fair at Redbase Art Sydney, Yogyakarta (2024).

His work has also been shown in exhibitions across Afghanistan, Malaysia, Lebanon, Italy, France, Germany, Canada, and the USA. His pieces are part of collections including the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Nusantara and the Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art.
