ARTIST BIO

Yanuar Ikhsan was born in 1992, Indonesia.

In general, his artistic process is a way to express what disturbs or lingers in his mind. Recently, he has been exploring the theme of death as a central part of his creative process. For Yanuar, a theme becomes meaningful for both the artist and the audience only when it relates to both of them. As long as artists can still create and audiences can still experience art, both are still alive making death the closest phenomenon to life. Death is an intriguing subject because it is always relevant across all ages and times. It is a certainty for all living beings.

In 2019, Yanuar Ikhsan participated in a group exhibition titled “Redefining Chapter” at Redbase Foundation, Indonesia. Some of the other group exhibitions he has taken part in include a group show at the Museum Keris in Surakarta, Indonesia, and another at the Jogja National Museum in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
