Anastasia Darsono is an Indonesian photographer, born in Jakarta. Before she became a photographer, her love for fashion brought her to Paris and Milan to study fashion and jewelry design. After finishing her studies, she returned to Indonesia to pursue a career in the media and fashion industry. Later, she went on to establish her own successful jewelry and accessory line under the name Tasha D. Gioelli.
Darsono's journey into photography began at the age of nine and continued alongside her fashion career. While living in Paris and Milan, she frequently photographed her surroundings, using these images as both documentation and inspiration for her design work. This experience deepened her interest in photography and led her to explore it as a primary artistic practice. Her work spans documentary, portraiture, street, and travel photography, often reflecting a strong sense of narrative and cultural observation.
Throughout her career behind the camera, Anastasia has contributed to various prints and online media around the world, including DestinAsian Indonesia, L’Officiel, Marie Claire Indonesia, and South China and Morning Post amongst others. She has also exhibited her work in Art with Purpose (2016) and Art Jakarta (2017).
We pay our respects to the Gundungurra people who are the traditional custodians of the land. We acknowledge Elders past, present and emerging for their immense spiritual connection to place which was never ceded.
