Erizal AS was born in 1979 in Padang Panjang, Indonesia. He graduated from the Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Yogyakarta with a degree in Fine Arts and currently lives and works in Yogyakarta.
Erizal’s works center on abstract expression and intuitive gestures. His paintings are marked by dense textures and energetic brushwork, reflecting emotional states, inner conflicts, and meditations on human nature. In recent years, he shifted from figurative themes to fully abstract compositions, revealing a deep engagement with moral questions and psychological complexity. 

In 2017, he took part in the group exhibition Rising Length of Light at Artotel – Redbase Foundation Indonesia. 

Erizal has received several awards, including being a finalist in the UOB Painting of the Year (2013) and the ASEAN Art Awards by Yayasan Seni Rupa Indonesia (2003).  His works have also been shown at Art Expo Malaysia (2016), Art Jakarta, Gajah Gallery, and Whitebox Publika, Malaysia. He has held solo exhibitions at Gajah Gallery (Singapore, Jakarta, Yogyakarta), Koong Gallery, and Ganesha Gallery.
