Stephan Kaluza was born in 1964, Bad Iburg, Germany. He studied Art History at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf and Philosophy at Heinrich Heine Universität Düsseldorf.
Stephan Kaluza's artistic concepts often explore the intersection between nature, memory, and temporality, presented through meticulously detailed large-scale paintings. His works frequently depict landscapes—forests, oceans, and sites of historical tension—conveying questions about perception, time, and human presence.
In 2024, Stephan Kaluza participated in the group exhibition Coronation at Redbase Foundation, Indonesia.
He has been involved in numerous solo and group exhibitions across Europe, the United States, and Asia, including the Arp Museum Remagen, Ludwig Museum Koblenz, and Gwangju Museum of Art.
We pay our respects to the Gundungurra people who are the traditional custodians of the land. We acknowledge Elders past, present and emerging for their immense spiritual connection to place which was never ceded.
