Samuel Chan

ARTIST BIO

Samuel Chan is an artist living and working on Gadigal Country. His practice examines the paradoxical intersections of his Singaporean Chinese Australian, queer and former Christian identities. Working across sculpture, installation and performance, Chan draws on the language of mythology, alternate realities and allegory to investigate both shared and private histories. His work often begins as observational representations that expand into emotionally charged, empowered gestures and corporeal metaphors that excavate his personal experience.

Chan participated in the Hatched 2025 National Graduate Exhibition at the Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts and was the recipient of the Schenberg Art Fellowship.
