ARTIST BIO

Siam Candra Artista was born in 1995, Indonesia
Graduated from Fine Art Department, Indonesian Institute of the Arts Yogyakarta, Indonesia. His artworks focus on explore painting with acrylic paint and drawing. He also experiments with art installation.
He was inspired by pop art, lowbrow art, traditional decorative art and illustration concept and phenomena about a flashback felling to the past, then he combined it with personal introspection. With his artworks, he tries to create a relationship with peoples using a flashback memory and the current story that happen on social media. He believes all peoples have story, memory, or experience that will be useful and meaningful for himself or other peoples.
Unity is a masterpiece that starts from love and compassion. Love can start from a similarity on something, such as a common hobby or a common taste for each individual. But there is also love that arises from a difference. Gender differences as well as differences in the character and nature of the perpetrators.
A masterpiece is an example of the result of one’s love for something. Starting from the mismatch of the media chosen to work, and then trying to adapt to the media through the work process. And in the end it becomes a unity between the artist and his masterpiece.
Unity does not look at what, who, why, when, where and how. Unity does not perceive differences. Indonesia is now too proud of differences, always views a difference as a high thing. Because the increasing of difference is actually the main weapon to cause problems. Some Indonesian people forget about Bhineka Tunggal Ika. Indonesian people really remember Bhineka, but some people forget about Tunggal Ika. So let’s be proud of our Tunggal Ika, Indonesia. Let’s be proud of our Unity in Diversity in Indonesia. Indeed we are different, so let’s love each other to produce masterpieces. A masterpiece with a unified form, namely Bhineka Tunggal Ika.
