Rosit Mulyadi (b. 1988), or more familiarly referred to as Ocid, was born into a conservative family of farmers in the southern coastal area of Bantul, Java. Before venturing into fine arts, he was sent to study in an Islamic boarding school, with his first encounter with art through Arabic calligraphy. While most of his peers chose to pursue further religious study, he chose to leave for ISI Yogyakarta where he majored in painting. Rosit’s works talk about reality in social media today. He imagined modern media as a chaotic space where struggle for power takes place, where the line between right and wrong becomes blurred. On some of his works he put text or quote as a form of sarcasm and parody to make point to specific narration into his artworks. He has been participating in various art exhibition like REDEFINING CHAPTER group exhibition at Redbase Foundation, Yogyakarta (2019), Unseen, Artspace@helutrans, komplek Jogja National Museum (2019), Kembulan,Muktamar NU, Studio Kalahan (2018), UoB painting of the years 2017, UoB Plaza, Jakarta (2017), Urip Mung Mampir Ngombe, Langit Art Space, Yogyakarta (2015), and many more.
