Antonio S. Sinaga was born in 1988 in Surabaya, Indonesia, and is currently based in Bandung. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Ceramic Art from the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB).
Sinaga’s practice is grounded in his personal experiences as a member of a religious minority in Indonesia. Through photography, printmaking, and ceramics, he explores the tensions between belief systems, societal norms, and individual introspection. His works function as meditative platforms for critique, observation, and re-evaluation—inviting audiences to question dogma, identity, and the evolving nature of conviction.
Sinaga's recent works have been featured in Doubt is Good, a solo exhibition at Redbase Foundation, Yogyakarta (2023); Redbase Diaries #22 at Redbase Art Sydney (2022); and Cross of the Matter at Redbase Art Sydney (2024).
His works have received wide recognition, both in Indonesia and internationally. In collaboration with Redbase Art Sydney, he has presented in multiple exhibitions, spanning solo and group formats. He is a recipient of notable accolades such as the Indonesia Art Awards and the Soemardja Art Awards.
We pay our respects to the Gundungurra people who are the traditional custodians of the land. We acknowledge Elders past, present and emerging for their immense spiritual connection to place which was never ceded.
