Pupuk Daru Purnomo, also known as Pupuk DP, was born in Yogyakarta in 1964. He graduated from the Faculty of Arts and Design at the Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Yogyakarta in 1994, where he received the Best Painting award and the Pratisara Affandi Adhi Karya prize.
Pupuk DP’s paintings often portray intimate scenes of daily life in Yogyakarta, capturing emotional and spiritual depth through textured brushstrokes and bold colors. His works reflect themes of human connection, local urban landscapes, and quiet, meaningful moments.
In 2014, he participated in the group exhibition ‘Red’ Base at Redbase Foundation Indonesia.
His career spans numerous solo and group exhibitions across Indonesia and Southeast Asia, including Gajah Gallery in Singapore, Santi Gallery in Jakarta, and the H. Widayat Museum in Magelang. He was a finalist for the Philip Morris Art Award in 1997, and his works have been acquired by institutions such as the Singapore Art Museum. Several pieces have been auctioned internationally, including by Christie’s in Amsterdam and Hong Kong.
