Li Hongbo was born in 1974 in Siping, Jilin Province, China. He holds a BFA from Jilin Normal University and two MFA degrees from the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing, majoring in Folk Art and Experimental Art.
His practice explores the symbolic and material transformation of paper, using honeycomb techniques to sculpt flexible forms that challenge perceptions of rigidity and fluidity. His works reflect on themes of tradition, knowledge, and cultural change.
In 2015, he participated in the group exhibition Base ‘RED’ at Redbase Foundation, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. He Also has been participating in various art exhibition like; “BAZAAR ART Jakarta 2015” group exhibition, with Redbase Foundation, at the Ritz Carlton – Pacific Place, Jakarta, Indonesia (2015)
Li Hongbo has exhibited internationally at venues such as the White Rabbit Gallery (Australia), Kunstverein Ludwigsburg (Germany), Asian Civilisations Museum (Singapore), and Berkshire Museum (USA), and was awarded the Grand Prize by the Sovereign Asian Art Foundation.
