Erianto was born in Paladangan Agam, West Sumatra 1983. Now he lives and works in Yogyakarta. He studied art and graduated from Indonesia Institute of the Arts (ISI) Yogyakarta-Indonesia (2003).
Erianto’s practice explores the visual language of illusion and perception, often engaging with themes of spatial deception and the boundaries between reality and representation. His works are meticulously crafted to challenge the viewer’s visual expectations inviting a reconsideration of surface, depth, and material truth. Through this approach, he reflects on broader cultural and philosophical questions, particularly regarding image construction and the nature of belief in contemporary visual culture.
Erianto actively participates in group exhibitions since 2003 across Indonesia, U.S.A., Europe, and other Asian countries such as Indonesia Connecting the World (spring meeting IMF-WBG). His works have been featured in several exhibitions like her solo exhibition at Element Art Space, Singapore, Sangkring Art Space, Singapore Art Stage, Singapore; the group exhibition “‘Red’Base” at Redbase Foundation Indonesia, Yogyakarta (2014), “Base’RED’” at Redbase Foundation Indonesia, Yogyakarta (2015).
