Ayu Arista Murti was born in Surabaya, 1972. She graduated from Indonesian Institute of Art Yogyakarta in 2004.
Murti explores environmental themes in her creative process, for example human cloning, dryness, and earth detriment. She wishes for a better environment through her artworks –healthier. What makes Murti works of art is the way she places the theme on a “feminine” perspective. From the way she’s been taking to narrate the theme Ayu shows the audiences how important women's role is to protect nature.
Murti has exhibited extensively in Indonesia and abroad. Her group exhibitions include “Forms of diversity” at Redbase Foundation Indonesia, Yogyakarta (2018), Auckland art fair at Auckland, New Zealand (2018). She has held three solo exhibitions to date Flowing with The Water, Ark Gallery, Yogyakarta, Indonesia, Solo Exhibition, Wada Gallery, Tokyo, Japan, Cloning Garden, Valentine Willie Fine Art, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
