ARTIST BIO

Ayu was born in Surabaya, 1972. In 2004 she graduated from Indonesian Institute of Art Yogyakarta. Ayu explores environmental themes in her creative process, for example human cloning, dryness, and earth detriment. She wishes for a better environment through her artworks –healthier. What makes Ayu’s works of art is the way she places the theme on a “feminine” perspective. From the way she’s been taking to narrate the theme Ayu shows the audiences how important women's role is to protect nature. Ayu exhibits extensively in Indonesia and abroad, with three solo exhibitions to date Flowing with The Water, Ark Gallery, Yogyakarta, Indonesia (2017), Solo Exhibition, Wada Gallery, Tokyo, Japan (2011), Cloning Garden, Valentine Willie Fine Art, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (2010).
