Yoh Yasuda is a Japanese artist renowned for his contemporary kite art. He was born in Ebina, Kanagawa, Japan, in 1988 and earned his master’s degree from Tokyo University of the Arts in 2014.

From a young age, Yasuda was familiar with kite-making, influenced by the culture of his mother’s hometown, Nagasaki, which is famous for its kite festivals. He began exploring Indonesian kite culture in 2019, and since then, kites have become his primary medium for artistic and cultural exploration.

In July 2023, Yasuda participated in the Bali International Kite Festival, where he met Balinese artist I Kadek Dwi Armika. This encounter led to their collaboration in the exhibition “Wind Forest: Rimba Angin” at CushCush Gallery, Bali, in December 2023. The exhibition explored kites in terms of materials and forms, using natural elements and focusing on ecological balance and environmental issues in Bali.

Yasuda also undertook an artist residency at the Redbase Foundation in Yogyakarta, where he studied traditional Indonesian kite-making and collaborated with local artists to create works blending Japanese and Indonesian techniques and cultural elements.
