Abdi Setiawan, born in Pariaman, West Sumatra in 1971, is a contemporary Indonesian artist active as a sculptor and painter. He is a graduate of the Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Yogyakarta and a member of the Seni Sakato art community in Yogyakarta.
Abdi Setiawan’s works typically feature human figures arranged in installations that create an “urban stage” within social spaces such as terminals or street corners, presenting satirical visual narratives of urban life.
Together with Redbase Foundation Indonesia, Abdi Setiawan held a solo exhibition titled The Future is Here (2014) and participated in a group exhibition titled Base 'RED' (2015).
Abdi Setiawan actively participates in various exhibitions, including solo shows at IFI-LIP Yogyakarta, Nadi Gallery Jakarta, André Simoens Gallery (Belgium), Metis Gallery (Netherlands), OFCA International, and Semarang Gallery. He has also taken part in group exhibitions at PKKH UGM, the 15th Yogyakarta Art Festival, the National Gallery of Indonesia, Marc Straus Gallery (New York), ArtJog, and Art Stage Singapore.
