Faisal Habibi

ARTIST BIO

Faisal Habibi was born in 1984 in Jakarta, Indonesia. He graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts from the Institute of Technology Bandung (ITB), and currently lives and works in Bandung, Indonesia.
Faisal Habibi’s practice explores the boundaries of sculpture through object-based works that reinterpret everyday forms. Drawing from industrial design and consumer culture, he reconstructs chairs, tables, and domestic items into abstract installations that question function, perception, and materiality. His recent works focus more on form, structure, and color, encouraging reflection on the relationship between humans and their objects.

In 2017, he participated in the group exhibition Rising Length of Light at Redbase Foundation Indonesia, as well as Neglected Ordinaries and Neglected Ordinaries Jakarta in 2016.

He has been involved in numerous exhibitions across Indonesia, Singapore, Germany, and beyond, including Biennale Jogja and Art Basel Hong Kong. Faisal has also received various awards, including First Prize at the Salihara 3D Art Competition (2013), Juror’s Choice at the Indonesia Art Award (2008), and a Special Mention at the Bandung Contemporary Art Awards (2015).
