Jingwei Bu is a Chinese-Australian performance and installation artist based in Adelaide, South Australia. Her practice is distilled from her ongoing actions surrounding a single cup of tea. Infusing Eastern and Western aesthetics from communal tea drinking, her performances engage with elemental themes of time, action, and absence. Meanwhile, her “Tea Party” paintings use tea stains and soft shadows to mark the flow of time through ceremony.
She is the recipient of multiple grants and awards, including the 2024 Emerging Artist of the Year from Adelaide Critic Circle. In 2025, she was the recipient of the inaugural ACE x Firstdraft Short-term Residency and the Guildhouse Catapult Mentorship Program under acclaimed artist Lindy Lee.
