Made Wiguna Valasara, born 1983 in Sukawati, Gianyar, Bali, Indonesia. Valasara completed his studies at the Indonesian Arts Institute, Yogyakarta, Indonesia (2007). Valasara is an artist who specializes in painting and sculpture, his most famous works are works using the embossed canvas technique. The subject matter varies from reinterpretation of Traditional Balinese Painting to the Renaissance and the appropriation of Modern Painting. The latest one raises many social and cultural issues in Bali. Valasara has participated in many group exhibitions in Indonesia, Singapore, Philippines, Australia and Taipei. His solo exhibitions include Collective Fragment at Art Agenda Jakarta, which presented by Bale Project; Playing Balinese at Art Stage Singapore 2016, presented by Equator Art Projects, at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore; Painting Painting, Art: 1 Art Space, Jakarta (2015); Solo Project at Art Central Hong Kong, presented by Art:1 Art Space (2015); Animal Behave at MonDecor Art Space, Jakarta, and Panggang Sunaryo Art Space, Bandung (2010); Marshalling Lines and Colors, Canna Gallery, Jakarta (2009).
His work has won several awards, including Public Prize Vote Prize in the Sovereign Asian Art Prize 2020, finalist in UOB Painting of the Year (2012); finalist Indonesian Art Award 2010; Best Painting for the 23rd Anniversary of ISI Yogyakarta (2007). In 2011, he became artist-in-residence at Panggang Sunaryo Artspace, Bandung.
