Redbase Art Gallery proudly presents the group exhibition, Tumbuh, curated by Redbase Gallery. Showcasing a collection of contemporary works by artists; Ari Bayuaji, Desrat Fianda, I Kadek Suardana, Joko Avianto, Moch Ariwijaya, Rizqi Maulana and Wiguna Valasara, this exhibition explores the interwoven forces of culture and nature, memory and transformation.
Indonesia is a fertile ground of both rootedness and reinvention, an archipelago of living traditions and shifting ecologies – a land that is in constant dialogue with its ancestral rituals and contemporary expression. Tumbuh – meaning to grow in Bahasa Indonesia – is both a reflection and a provocation, representing the intersections of tradition and progress. And it is in the spirit of embracing these complexities, that the 2025 exhibition, Tumbuh, remains committed to reflecting on personal and collective growth - exploring themes of belonging, resilience, and ecological consciousness. The exhibition invites viewers to meditate on the spiritual relationships between people and the natural world, but also to question the impacts of modernity on cultural identity and the land itself. By ruminating on the convergence of tradition and experimentation, this exhibition seeks to prompt an expansion of the meaning of growth – as not solely about progress, but also concerned with the continuity, evolution and healing of the individual and the community.
