ARTIST BIO

I Kadek Suardana, also known as Kacor, was born in 1991 in Gianyar, Bali. He graduated from the Faculty of Fine Art at the Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Yogyakarta in 2014. Currently based in Sewon, Yogyakarta, Suardana draws inspiration from his natural surroundings, often referencing local flora and fauna in his artistic practice.
Suardana is known for his distinctive technique that involves layering cut paper and duct tape to create atmospheric compositions a process he refers to as “tensile.” His works often feature organic subjects such as banana trees, papayas, cacti, and domestic animals like chickens, dogs, and pigs. With a subtle, tranquil aesthetic, his art reflects a deep sensitivity to the everyday beauty of rural life and the ecological rhythms of his environment.

Kacor's recent works have been featured in  “Tumbuh” Group Exhibition at Redbase Art Sydney, Sydney (2025) ,  “Embarking on Wishful Journey” Group Exhibition at Redbase Foundation Indonesia, Yogyakarta (2023), and “Macam-macam” group exhibition at Redbase Foundation Indonesia, Yogyakarta (2019).

Suardana was selected to participate in the Asian Students and Young Artists Art Festival (ASYAAF) at Gallery LVS in Seoul, Korea. His works also  exhibited in numerous group shows across Indonesia, including in Sangkring Art Space, Museum ARMA, and Tribute to OHD, Yogyakarta.
