I Made Widya Diputra (1981) or mostly known as ‘Lampung’, is a Balinese artist who graduated from the Sculpture Department, ISI (Indonesian Arts Institute) Yogyakarta. Part of the new group of young Balinese artists, Lampung is a member of Sanggar Dewata Indonesia, following the footsteps of his well-known contemporaries such as Nyoman Gunarsa, Made Wianta, Made Djirna and Nyoman Masriadi. His works respond to the perpetually changing nature of today’s contemporary art, while also keeping his ties with his traditional Balinese roots. Often his works are an interpretation of Balinese traditions, or critical viewpoints of Indonesia’s socio-political issues. Excelling in the field of sculpture, his works are known for their ability to embrace the space, deploying its environment as a part of the artwork itself. Lampung is also renowned for his use of a variety of materials. He has participated in exhibitions with institutions such as Redbase Art Gallery and ART BALI.
We pay our respects to the Gundungurra people who are the traditional custodians of the land. We acknowledge Elders past, present and emerging for their immense spiritual connection to place which was never ceded.
