I Made Widya Diputra (1981) or mostly known as ‘Lampung’, is a Balinese artist that was graduated from Sculpture Department, ISI (Indonesian Arts Institute) Yogyakarta.
This show is Lampung’s rendition to interpret stories of Mahabharata and Bharatayudha, among them are scenes from war of Bharatayudha, the fall of Bisma, figure of Sengkuni and Kurawa.
For him, the shadow play tales are able to illustrate various problems in nowadays human life. Stories in shadow play are guidance for human in conducting life. He capture some scenes from these puppetry tales as his basis theme in making artworks.
The costumes are explored by Lampung in a particular way using leather that shaped and equipped with very-detailed ornaments.
Combination between leather and silicon materials appears in almost all exhibited works. A contrast combination yet is open to process into a unique and attractive unity.
Relentlessly, he kept on extending his experiments on material. This time, Lampung works on metal material by manually making buckle, sword, and any other accessories.
